Everything you need to know — from your first click to mastering advanced techniques.
Stick Jump uses just one input — it couldn't be simpler.
Click and hold the left mouse button to extend the stick. Release to drop it.
Tap and hold anywhere on the screen to grow the stick. Lift your finger to release.
Press and hold the spacebar or any key to extend the stick. Release to drop.
Follow these steps to understand the core mechanics.
Your stickman stands on the edge of a platform. Ahead of you is a gap of varying width leading to the next platform. Take a quick look at the distance — this will help you gauge how long your stick needs to be.
Press and hold your mouse button (or tap and hold on mobile). A stick will begin growing vertically from your stickman's position. The longer you hold, the taller the stick becomes. Watch carefully — you need it to be just the right length.
When you think the stick is the correct length, release your click or lift your finger. The stick will fall forward like a bridge. If it lands on the next platform — success! If it's too short or extends beyond the platform — game over.
Once the stick lands correctly, your stickman walks across to the next platform. A new gap appears, and the process repeats. Each successful crossing adds to your score. The gaps become increasingly tricky as you progress.
The game continues until you miss a platform. Your score counts how many platforms you successfully reached. Try to beat your personal best each run. The game saves your high score locally, so you can always see your record.
Start strong with these essential strategies.
Don't watch the stick grow — keep your eyes on where the next platform ends. This helps you gauge the length more naturally.
The stick grows at a constant speed. After a few rounds, you'll develop an internal rhythm that makes timing much easier.
Panicking leads to short sticks. Take a breath before each jump. Patience and calmness are your biggest advantages.
When in doubt, aim for a slightly longer stick. Landing a bit past the edge is better than falling short into the void.
Each round only takes seconds. Play dozens of quick rounds to train your muscle memory and improve rapidly.
Don't aim for 100 platforms on day one. Start with a goal of 10, then 20, then 50. Incremental improvement keeps you motivated.
Once you've got the basics, try these pro-level strategies.
Once you can consistently reach 30+ platforms, try speed running. Don't pause between jumps — press immediately after landing. This builds a flow state that actually improves accuracy for many players because you stop overthinking.
Advanced players aim to land as close to the far edge of the platform as possible. This isn't just for style — it trains your precision for narrower platforms that appear in higher scores.
While gaps appear random, your brain naturally starts recognizing recurring distance patterns. After hundreds of rounds, you'll instinctively know the correct hold duration for common gap widths without consciously measuring them.
